Hello and Welcome to the Official Blog and Site of iRQLinux Project
iRQLinux is a Linux Operating System (Distribution). It is the first Iraqi System that is based on Linux.
Made by Iraqis from all over the world, mainly targeting Iraqis Users (and anyone else as well).
No doubt there are so many Linux Distributions. Over 600 Linux Distributions. It is very true that the world does not really need one more. However, what is really unique in Linux and you can not find it elsewhere, the FREEDOM of choice and the FREEDOM of desire. You are FREE (100%) to choose and use whatever that you like and need.
iRQLinux is made by Iraqis for Iraqis. This is a feature that you can't find elsewhere.
Because of years and years of war, blood, disasters, etc and the war is not yet over. So many people are dying on daily basis. There so so many people over there in Iraq desperately need something to cheer them up. There are so many people who actually eager to learn. Need something new. Something they have never heard of, seen nor tried. Thanks to the Iraqi Governments, we have been living in dark for so many years. We have seen the internet in 2003. We have started to use the Cell Phone in 2003. We have begun to watch other channels rather than the 2 local channels in 2003. Millions of Iraqi people are so much hungry for learning and they do need that.
For all the above, as long as we do have the energy, as long as we are still breathing, as long as our brains are still functional, I find it really hard NOT to do something for all those people over there. Because of the bad situations over there, myself and millions of Iraqis had to leave the country. While our hearts and souls are there and we sometimes feel like ghosts, our minds are with us trying the best of the best to go back or at least, do something for the country and its people.
Therefore, we believe it is really special to give something to Iraq and Iraqis. And, that is indeed a valid reason to come up with yet another Linux Distribution and let's make it 601 ;)
Unfortunately, due to the lack of Linux Experience in the Iraqi People in general, and also because I've been extremely busy with other projects as I am heavily and actively involved with many Linux Communities, and above all, since we are living in different countries and it is a bit hard to find people with the same interests (again, lack of experience, communications, Real Life issues, etc) ... all these reasons are behind the delay of this project. Sadly, this project was found in July, 2011 and until now, I don't have a team yet. Sad but true. However, I have never given up and will never do. I still have this project in mind and I am now willing to take it to the next step.
Please, if you know anyone who might be interested, SHARE this post with them. Spread the word. I do need your help and support. Let's do something for Iraq and its people. It is TIME to cheer them up, specially those who are interested about Computers.

I can share with you tons of reports and news. There are so many governments have started to migrate from Windows to Linux. French Police. Spanish Government. In Germany, everywhere in Europe and America are, step by step, migrating from Windows to Linux. It is enough that NASA has migrated and switched from Microsoft Windows to Linux :)
So, what makes them so different? we are humans too and we can do the same or even better ;)
